Morton's Neuroma Centre

At the Morton’s Neuroma Centre (part of The London Podiatry Centre), we prioritise non-invasive care based on foot structure and function. When treatment is needed, we favour minimally invasive options such as cryosurgery and radiofrequency ablation, to reduce risk, minimise complications and speed recovery.

Why choose us
One of the few UK centres offering the full range of minimally invasive treatments for Morton’s neuroma. Care led by Mr McCulloch, a highly experienced podiatric surgeon, for precise diagnosis and evidence-based treatment.

Common Causes

Morton’s neuroma often starts subtly — a tingling or burning sensation in the ball of your foot that gradually worsens into sharp, shooting pain between the toes. This condition develops when the nerve becomes thickened due to constant pressure or irritation.

Common causes include wearing high-heeled or tight-fitting shoes, foot deformities such as bunions or flat feet, or an underlying nerve sensitivity. People with hypermobility, a history of sciatica, or neurological conditions like multiple sclerosis or diabetes are also more prone to developing it.

It’s particularly common in dancers and athletes involved in sports like football, cycling, and skiing — activities that place repeated stress on the forefoot. Without treatment, Morton’s neuroma can make walking, exercising, and even wearing certain shoes unbearable.

Treatments

At The London Podiatry Centre, we believe in finding the true cause of Morton’s neuroma — not just treating the symptoms. Every patient undergoes a thorough assessment, which may include advanced 3D gait analysis or, where needed, referral to a specialist such as a neurologist.

We only recommend treatments like cryosurgery once we are confident that all appropriate investigations have been carried out and that conservative options have been explored. This careful, step-by-step approach ensures we choose the safest and most effective treatment for each individual.

You can be assured that we will never rush you into unnecessary procedures — our focus is always on what is best for your long-term foot health.
