Advanced Treatments for Nerve Pain at The London Podiatry Centre

At The London Podiatry Centre, we specialise in diagnosing and treating nerve pain (neurogenic pain) in the foot and ankle — a condition that is often misdiagnosed or overlooked. We are one of the few centres globally to offer such a comprehensive and advanced range of nerve-specific treatments, many of which are minimally invasive and highly effective.

Treatment Options for Nerve Pain Cases

Depending on the cause and location of your nerve pain — whether due to entrapment, scarring, previous surgery, or chronic inflammation — we offer a tailored approach that may include the following...

Cryosurgery for Nerve Pain

This technique uses extreme cold to deactivate damaged or irritated nerves, reducing pain without cutting or removing the nerve. It is highly effective for superficial nerve entrapments such as Morton’s neuroma and superficial peroneal nerve irritation. Cryosurgery is minimally invasive, repeatable, and associated with a quick recovery.

PRF delivers controlled electrical pulses to the affected nerve without destroying the tissue. It modulates pain signalling, making it particularly useful for chronic neuropathic pain. It’s a preferred option when preservation of nerve function is essential and is well tolerated by most patients.

This stronger option uses controlled heat to target and deactivate damaged nerve tissue. It’s particularly beneficial for severe cases, such as recurrent neuromas.

This technique uses a continuous thermal current to ablate (or destroy) part of the nerve responsible for carrying pain signals. It is typically used when conservative treatments have failed and is suitable for certain deep-seated nerve pain conditions. Ablation provides longer-lasting relief but is used more selectively.

Cold laser (low-level laser therapy) helps to stimulate nerve repair, reduce inflammation, and promote blood flow. It is painless and non-invasive, making it an excellent adjunct treatment for nerve healing and reducing hypersensitivity in chronic pain states.

G5 is a specialised percussive massage and vibration therapy that helps to reduce nerve-related pain and break down soft tissue adhesions. It can improve circulation and is often used alongside other treatments to enhance recovery.

Using real-time imaging, we deliver precise injections to the area surrounding the nerve. This may involve local anaesthetic, corticosteroids, or regenerative solutions, depending on the condition. These injections are ideal for both diagnostic clarity and therapeutic relief.

Hydrodissection is a highly specialised ultrasound-guided technique where fluid is injected to separate and release a nerve from surrounding scar tissue or adhesions. This helps reduce compression and improve nerve function. It is especially useful in cases involving post-surgical nerve scarring or entrapment.
