Running

Staying on your Toes

Runners are one of the largest athlete groups we treat. From beginners to professionals, each runner undergoes a detailed gait analysis using our advanced assessment facilities, including 3D motion assessment. You’ll receive a bespoke report by Consultant Podiatric Surgeon Mr Ron McCulloch with a clear diagnosis, the biomechanical factors contributing to your symptoms, and a step-by-step plan to get you back to comfortable, efficient running.

What your advanced 3D assessment includes

  • Comprehensive gait analysis with video and 3D metrics, reviewed by Mr McCulloch
  • Screening of strength, flexibility and movement patterns relevant to running
  • Footwear review and guidance on shoe selection
  • Training-load advice to help you progress without flare-ups

Your treatment plan
Orthoses are commonly recommended and custom-made to your needs, supporting optimal foot mechanics and reducing tissue overload. These are combined with targeted rehabilitation, footwear advice and load management to improve performance and reduce injury risk. Where appropriate, we can also discuss surgical options—but most runners improve with focused, non-surgical care.

Conditions we frequently see
Plantar heel pain (plantar fasciitis), Achilles and calf issues, forefoot pain and Morton’s neuroma, tibialis posterior dysfunction, peroneal problems and stress-related foot injuries.
